Field Closures and Rain Outs

Houston Sports Park operates a NO REFUND policy due to weather that may force field closures. HSP reserves the right to cancel reservations in whole or in part, due to weather, safety, and/or maintenance issues. HSP staff will determine whether a field is playable at all events where staff is present. HSP operates on a delay first, cancel second policy pertaining to field closures due to inclement weather.

If there is no update found on website or twitter, HSP fields are open.

For weekday usage, notification of field closures will be provided no later than two hours before the start of rental. In some obvious cases, field closure notification may update as early as noon.

For weekend usage, notification of field closures will be provided by end of day Friday OR no later than two hours before the start of rental on Saturday and Sunday. In some obvious cases, field closure notification may update as early as Friday end of day. 

FIELD OPEN:

If HSP has not closed fields due to inclement weather in the area and user decides to ‘no-show’, renter is not entitled to a refund or reschedule. If user cancels for any reason, HSP shall retain any money received by user. 

FIELD CLOSED:

If any of the aforementioned provokes cancellation by HSP prior to a practice, game, tournament, camp or clinic, or other use of HSP, every attempt will be made to reschedule cancelled reservations as soon as possible within 12 months. Reservation credit will be given to user and reschedule date/time (subject to HSP availability) must be in agreement of both parties.

If any of the aforementioned provokes cancellation by HSP during a practice, game, tournament, camp or clinic, or other use of HSP, time not used (1 hour minimum) will be credited to user within 12 months. Reservation credit will be given to user and reschedule date/time (subject to HSP availability) must be in agreement of both parties.

It is the responsibility of renter to initiate rescheduling of reservations.

Inclement Weather Guidelines

All visitors must comply with inclement weather evacuation. HSP staff reserve the right to cancel, suspend, or postpone events due to inclement weather that jeopardizes safety.

 

LIGHTNING EVACUATIONS:

• Lightning strikes at 12 miles: HSP staff will begin to verbally communicate to park patrons that a possible evacuation will take place should the outdoor horn blast for 15 seconds.
• Lightning strike 8 miles or less: outdoor horn will siren evacuation.
• Participants and spectators must evacuate the fields and venue immediately (3 min. or less). HSP staff will close and lock all gates to the fields.
• Participants and spectators must seek shelter (see ‘Storm Safety Location’ below)
• The facility will remain evacuated until lightning has left the eight-mile range, horn has blasted (3) short five second bursts and HSP staff has received “All-clear” from the Earth Networks system.
• HSP staff will notify participants and spectators when it is safe to return to the fields (see ‘Inclement Weather Notifications’).
• An immediate inspection of playing surfaces will ensue and will determine if the fields are in safe playable condition.
